About This Quote

A fellow student at a school in Russia was very poor and didn't have enough money to buy a textbook. He asked for some from his teacher, but he said he couldn't afford it. The student had no choice but to go home and try to study without his textbook. Unfortunately, the first few pages of the book were all blank. The student was very upset and asked his father for help.

His father went to the bookstore and bought the textbook for him, but he didn't want it. The father was very unhappy with his son, who he thought was too poor to afford the book. The father kept thinking about how much his son must be struggling, so he decided to give him the book anyway. He told his son that one day he would learn all about it when he turned 12 years old.

The boy was very happy about this gift, but he never forgot the teacher who wouldn't even lend him a book. When he turned 12 years old, his father gave him that same copy of that same textbook. When it came time for the boy's birthday party, everyone in the family brought something for him except for the father. The students in the family told their father what they thought of him and how much they loved him, but when it came time for presents they forgot about giving them to their dad.

They wondered why their dad wasn't there at all! Finally, after much begging by the children, their father brought out that same book that was given to them when they were 12 years old! They were surprised when they discovered that instead of being written in Russian by their dad's hand which would have made sense, it was written by someone else's hand! They went up to their dad saying "Dad did you write this?" He replied "I'm sorry I did." He said because of the fact that I did not have any money I did not buy you a present but you can borrow this one." The whole family got very angry because they were looking forward to giving their dad a gift! They accused their father of not loving them or doing anything special for them on his birthday which was horrible because they are all together every night! The stories are endless with how people treat their parents on his/her birthday….
